What does Alfaaz cost?+
Nothing for the first 21 days. After that, $51 a quarter, $101 every six months, or $201 a year, for one elder and everyone in their family. That is about $17 a month on the six-month plan and about $17 a month on the yearly one. A second elder is just $15 more a quarter.
Why does Alfaaz cost more than a weekly-question memoir service?+
Because Alfaaz does the interviewing, not only the asking. A weekly-question service sends one prompt and leaves your parent to write or record an answer alone. Alfaaz reaches your parent on WhatsApp at their usual hour, in their own language, listens to each voice note, asks about what they just said, and remembers the people they named weeks ago. Their own voice is kept, each story reaches the whole family as it is told, and the stories come back as print: a chapter posted every month, and a hardcover each year on the six-month and yearly plans. A ghostwritten life story costs hundreds to thousands of dollars for a few hours of interviews and one book. Alfaaz is about $17 a month on the yearly plan, for the whole year.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Your family's first plan starts with a 21-day free trial. You choose a plan and enter card details, so it is a real subscription from the first minute and your parent starts straight away, but nothing is charged until day 22. Cancel before then, in two clicks from your account, and you pay nothing.
Does it renew automatically?+
Yes. After the free 21 days, each plan renews at the end of its period until you cancel. Cancel any time, in two clicks. It keeps running until the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing is taken after that.
Can I give Alfaaz as a gift?+
Everything here is set up by you, for them. For a birthday, an anniversary or Diwali, choose that morning above: $51 once for one parent, four months from that day, and it never renews. An anniversary gift can cover both parents.
What if my elder does not reply?+
You will know inside the 21-day free trial. The first question can reach them minutes after checkout. Cancel before day 22 and you are never charged. If they are simply having trouble getting started, write to us before the free days are up and we will help.
What happens to the stories if I stop paying?+
When the term ends, new conversations stop. Everything already gathered stays yours to read and listen to, for good. Cancelling stops new conversations at the end of the period you paid for; it never closes the archive.
Can I add a second parent later?+
Yes, from inside Alfaaz once the free trial has ended: just $15 more a quarter, just $30 more every six months, or just $60 more a year, whichever plan you are on. The difference for the rest of the current period is charged when you add them. During the trial, write to us.
